The Middle Leadership Development Programme (MLDP)

Mrs Large and Mrs Scouarnec are National College trained facilitators for the MLDP programme and for the second year we are holding training sessions for middle leaders or aspiring middle leaders.

The MLDP is focused on developing effective leadership of high-quality teaching and learning in order to close gaps in achievement and variation within schools. Participating middle leaders attend a number of face-to-face sessions and have access to materials including e-learning activities and access to bespoke research and think pieces focused on the leadership of teaching and learning. Participants undertake a leadership challenge. The challenge focuses on their leadership of the closure of a gap in achievement witin their own school. Participants are supported by a learning coach throughout the programme who is an experienced middle leader or senior leader, from within their own school. Participants on the programme can work with universities to gain Credit Accumulation Transfer Scheme (CATS) points towards a Master's level degree.

We have been pleased to welcome participants from across Kirklees schools at all phases including first, middle and high schools. By September 2013 we are hoping that 27 teachers will have achieved the MLDP accreditation.
