Outcomes for pupils

All pupils at Scissett Middle School are assessed against their year group expectations as set out in the National Curriculum. We use a system called Classroom Monitor to record pupils’ progress against all the key objectives of the national Curriculum. Pupils are expected to make a minimum of three points progress, six half points, as shown on the table below, during the year. Pupils do not move outside the stage for their year group except in very exceptional circumstances. So for example a very able Y8 pupil should be enhancing and deepening his/her knowledge of a subject through higher order tasks, rather than studying the Y9 curriculum.

Baseline Testing at Shelley College Year 8/9 2016 On entry to Shelley College pupils were tested using the GL Assessments in English, Mathematics and Science. This data is based on the mean SAS (standard age score) where 100 is the national average. Pupils from Scissett achieved the following mean scores English 108.8 Maths 112.2 Science 105.5
