Harry Potter Trip 2018

10th September 2018

Dear Muggle Parents

During the Autumn Term, the Art and KS2 English Departments are combining forces, yet again, to provide our Year 6 pupils with the opportunity to visit the bewitching Warner Brother Studios Tour and encounter The Harry Potter Experience on 9th November 2018.

The spellbinding visit almost speaks for itself, being the home of the eight Harry Potter films.  Following the end of filming in 2010, the treasure trove of props and sets, creatures and clothing, were all lovingly preserved and displayed as part of the ever-changing studio tour.  At the studios, your child can experience the mystery of green screen and fly on a broomstick, learn how special effects have been created and enjoy the magic of Platform 93/4 in the backlot tour.  What makes the visit extra special is that during this period, the studios will be spooktacularly dressed for the Halloween festivities with pumpkins galore!

The cost of the whole day’s visit is £40 and the deposit of £20 must be Paid by Monday, 17th September by Parentpay.  The deposit must be paid by this date as no other pupils can attend after this time.  This price includes admission, coach transportation and insurance.  We are aware that the cost is quite high; however, the standard price for a child’s admission in 2018 will be £33 alone.  Participation in this visit is entirely voluntary and no pressure will be placed on any pupil to take part; however, in accordance with the school’s policy on educational visits, unless a substantial number of parents of participating pupils are willing to meet costs, the visit may not take place.

If your child is in receipt of free school meals, the entire cost of the trip will be met by the school and lunch will be provided on the day, as usual.  Also, if cost is prohibitive, please contact one of us on the usual telephone number as you may be eligible to certain financial benefits.

On the day of the trip, pupils are asked to arrive promptly as we are planning to leave immediately after morning registration and, due to the distance being travelled, we will return at around 8pm on the evening; therefore, pupils must be collected from the bus bay outside of school hours.  Further details regarding meals, spending money, etc. will be available nearer the time of the visit.

Yours sincerely
